Lucy's Blessing

Today we blessed our sweet Lucy Rose. She is such a sweet baby and we were so excited to hear the beautiful blessing Taylor gave her. We feel so lucky to have been given an opportunity to be her parents and feel so blessed to be able to watch her grow up. I am so thankful on days like these that my husband has kept himself worthy to hold the priesthood and administer these special blessings for our children. Taylor also bore his testimony about the truthfullness of the gospel and his knowledge that his parents mission has blessed the lives of the entire Proudfit family. Living near family is awesome so after the blessing we of course ( in true Proudfit fashion) had a yummy feast! It seems like the food and desserts is always plentiful at every Proudfit family gathering. Mel's parents Dan and Gloria were able to be here from Missouri as well which made the day even more special. We love them and they have been there for everything since mine and Tay's first date. It was great day. Here are some pics of my precious girl (she just started smiling!) on her special day.

St. Patty's Day

I am finally getting around to putting up our St. Patty's Day pictures. We started the day with Kallie, Weston and Jamers discovering all the things that the Leprechauns had done to our house and the kids while we were sleeping. Kallie spent the night the night before and all the kids (Lucy included) had green sparkles in their hair and shamrock kisses on their cheeks. The kids ate breakfast ( but refused to use the green milk) and then we went to the grocery store to prepare for the big dinner that night. Over the past few years we have made some adjustments to the St. Patty's Day meal adding cafe rio pork (in addition to the corned beef), green salad dressing salads ( instead of stinky cabbage), and Leprechaun juice ( green cream soda) to make sure everyone has something that they like. It was really good! Everyone dressed in green ( except for Mike - see his punishment below) and we had a Pot of Gold treasure hunt in the backyard for gold coins. It was a really fun night despite the few bloody injuries we had. Michelle and her kids couldn't make it and we missed them a ton!

Wishing on a wishbone

The other night I attempted to make my first turkey! It was pretty good but I need to seriously work on tenderizing it. The best part about it was finding the wishbone and explaining to the kids what a wishbone is. The next night we decided to let Weston and Daddy pull it apart ( James was not into the whole thing) and Weston won the pull. He was really excited. I asked him what he wished for, he told me that he wished that he could make Jesus happy. What a little treasure he is!

Oh My Leprechaun

We're celebrating St. Patrick's Day today instead of March 17th due to illness, family surgeries, scheduling conflicts etc..... That's one of the great things about having younger kids- they have no idea when the actual holiday takes place. As is tradition we always have a leprechaun visit our house and create a little mischief. This year he sprinkled shamrocks all over the house, gave the kids shamrock kisses in the middle of the night, sprinkled magic leprechaun dust in their hair and turned the milk green. Wes loves all things festive and loved the Leprechaun juice ( ie. cream soda made green.) He has been talking about Leprechauns all day. He is helping me set up for our big St. Patrick's Day dinner ( post to come). He turned to me in the middle of all this and asked me if Leprechauns had tails and I thought it would be wise to show him what a Leprechaun looks like so I googled "Leprechaun" in google images and these are the first four images that came up

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I think he may be scarred for life! I quickly told him these were bad Leprechauns and told him to go playwith Play doh. I think because he is four he'll recover but seriously what is our world coming to when these are the images that come up!?!?!?! I finally found an appropriate pic to show him and all is well.

Daddy and James

Ever since about 3 months before the baby was born James has been a little clingy. Mostly to Taylor. Everytime the front door opens James screams "daddddddyyyyyyy!!!!" If he hears a car pull up the same thing happens. Because we wanted to reassure Jamers and let him know we were here for him Tay was carrying him around a ton. So much in fact that it was interfering with his day to day activities. He devised this clever little system of keeping James with him with minimal effort. James climbs on Tay's back and hooks his feet into is pants. ( We tried it with me but due to the nature of maternity pants James couldn't hook his feet quite right. Thank goodness.) It is precious to see James adoring and loving his daddy!

Last Friday night Tay and I got to see a new show in Scottsdale called CAVALIA. It is made by the makers of Cirque du Soleil and it basically is Cirque with horses. It was really great and it's good to mix it up on dates and go to do different things.

Ye Olde Good Time

This last weekend e decided to take the kids to the Renaissance fair. We haven't ever been to one before but I had heard that they were really cool- this totally exceeded all my expectations. It was like medival Disneyland. They have a ton of actors walking around dressed up and acting like they are from the middle ages. Immediately after entering the fair an actor came up to us and screamed that we were arrested and we had to follow him. We were brought before a judge and Tay was charged with reading a map. Wes was totally loving and playing along. When they asked Wes what they should do with us he said " off with his head!" We had prepped him on medival talk on the long car ride down. What makes the fair cool is all the sweet rides are all man powered! There is like 4 guys at every ride that push the ride around and around. Talk about a serious work out. There is some many fun things to eat and do there. I had to buy Lucy her first pair of fairy wings ( does that really surprise you?) She told me she loved them- taylor drew the line at me buying her a fairy flower headband. Next time. We will for sure be making this a yearly tradition and I highly recommend it for kids of all ages.

It was the most fun day and now Wes wants to have a knight birthday party. It was a fun family day. The kids behaved so well and were so cute with their wild imaginations pretending to be knights. Afterwards we were at home and Wes asked me what Daddy's in castles are called. I told him they were kings and he asked what mommies and brothers and sisters were called in castles. I told him and now he calls Lucy "Princess" It is precious. Love those babies of mine.

10 things I love about Weston

1. He is always the first one to notice if I am having a bad day.
2. If he says something funny or forgets what he is saying and I ask him "what?" he'll respond "because i just love you mom."
3. He is the greatest brother to Jamers and teachs him right from wrong.
4. He has the most amazing imagination and it makes for never a dull moment.
5. He has genuine desire to make good choices and do what is right.
6. He is a great helper at home.
7. He is the smartest little guy I have ever met!
8. He loves Disneyworld more than I do- and he knows the difference between Disneyworld and Disneyland based on not only the castles but the attractions at both. (I'm so proud)
9. He still takes a nap!
10. He makes me proud to be his mommy every moment of every day.

Weston has blessed our life so much and Heavenly Father couldn't have sent us a more loving and happy boy. He makes it easy and enjoyable to be his mommy. He is the best example for James and James adores him. Love you Wes Wes!

Funny happenings this week

We had a very uneventful week but it was filled with some crazy moments. I started out the week having one of those days that all you can do to keep from crying is laugh at all the things going wrong. We started the madness with a trip to Weston's preschool where we were supposed to be watching a presentation about the three bears. Of course Jamers flipped out (it was way too close to naptime) and I had to put him back in the car and take off early. We arrived home and I started to make lunch - delicious mac n cheese. While the noodles were cooking on the stove I set the table and told Weston he needed to use one of the nice bowls because all the plastic ones we use for the kids were dirty. He was thrilled and I warned him not to break it. In the process of showing me how he wasn't going to break the bowl he dropped it and broke it. It shattered into a million pieces that I had to get quickly cleaned up so no one would get hurt. Wes was really apologetic and kept telling me how sorry he was. About thirty seconds after cleaning up all the broken glass I was getting the noodles off the stove to drain them and forgot to use an oven mitt. I burned myslef and dropped the pan with boiling water and the noodles all over the nice clean floor. AAAHHHHH! Weston reminded me that "accidents happen" and kept telling me "mom its okay I forgive you" He is so dang cute with the funny things he says. After another clean up of the kitchen floor the kids ate lunch and it was time for nap. In the process of looking for his blankie Weston accidently ran into our screen door (thinking it was open) and ripped the screen off the frame. It was hysterical to watch but now the screen is detached from the door. I decided to close the door and let Tay deal with it when he got home. es got his blankie and the boys went to their room for naptime. About 15 minutes into naptime James comes out of the room with the crazy nosebleed that apparently occured when he decided to get out bed and play with a ball that somehow hit his face. By this time I couldn't help but laugh at all the things that had gone wrong the past hour. We cleaned up the nose and off the bed they went.

Some other funny things that happened this week:

Weston insisting I make him "porridge" for breakfast after studying the three bears in school all week.


Some good things about this week:

I arrived home from getting my hair done and Wes didn't know I was going to the salon. When I walked in he said " mommy you look beautiful! Did you get your hair cut?" It warms my heart that he noticed!

A photographer called me and told me that she had purchased my wedding photographers business and wanted to know if I was interested in buying a disk of all my wedding pictures (about 500 in all) and a release paper for a $100! Heck yes !

I got new running shoes in anticipation of my 6 week check and being allowed to work out again.
